Associate Professor of Nursing – KC
Job Description
Transfers knowledge and skills. Creates a positive customer-oriented environment while promoting high educational standards. Develops quality, applied educational products by facilitating higher learning in and out of the classroom. Serves on campus and university-wide committees.
• Teaches courses as assigned.
• Helps design online nursing courses.
• Stays aware of changing educational needs in learning and technique through continued professional development.
• Assists in the development and implementation of assessment programs designed to assess student learning as it relates to course objectives, curriculum goals and the University’s mission.
• Maintains high ratings in student and course evaluations.
• Collects and processes feedback on the effectiveness of teaching techniques, course materials, and communication on the learning process. Assesses, expands and develops teaching technique, communication skills and subject knowledge to enhance student learning and bring about success in academic achievement.
• Serves as a role model for harmonious service to customer relations.
• Integrates technology and innovative techniques into course materials and delivery of instruction.
• Mentors, advises, and assists student registration activities.
• Prepares and administers necessary academic records in a timely manner.
• Serves as role model for self-discipline, honesty, leadership, and citizenship qualities.
• Assists students in resolving concerns and issues and directs them to the appropriate person.
• Works with program chairs to ensure learning standards are maintained.
• Pursues professional activities to promote technical expertise and teaching competency in accordance with individual Professional Development Plan.
• Nurtures a positive work and learning environment.
• Ensures functionality of CTU computer labs by following the CTU Lab Acceptance policy.
• Organizes and follows-up on student labs and clinical assessments & evaluations.
• Assist and supervise students at clinical sites and simulation lab.
• Designs, implements, evaluates and updates course syllabi.
• Provides classroom and mentoring site experiences.
• Participates in designing changes in curriculum as needed.
• Analyzes and updates policies for student admission, progression, retention, and graduation in accordance with CTU policies.
• Provides academic advice to nursing students.
• Selects and evaluates mentors for student learning experiences.
• Evaluates student achievement of nursing curriculum outcomes related to nursing knowledge and practice.
• Assesses teaching effectiveness.
• Plans and participates in professional activities that enhance the faculty members’ nursing expertise.
• Participates in faculty meetings and activities associated with this body.
• Performs administrative duties as assigned by Chair of Nursing.
Job Requirements
• BSN degree required
• RN in MO
• Prior teaching is preferred
